The First Three Months with Havens

They weren’t kidding when they said the days are long but the months fly by. I can’t believe Havens is already 3 months old! These last three months have been extremely exhausting but oh so special and rewarding. Life with him just gets better and better!

We were able to go home from the hospital the day after Havens was born. That first night at home, as Justin and I put Havens into his bassinet for bed he started to breathe funny. It scared me and i immediately started to cry. The entire first week I was paranoid he was going to stop breathing. Even now that I’ve come to realize babies just breathe funny, I still stop to listen to see if he is still breathing. A couple of times I’ve even told Justin to stop breathing so I could listen for Havens lol. We’ve decided that come January we will move Havens into his own room and it just about breaks my heart to think about! But, according to Justin we can’t keep him in our room forever. I’m sure when this boy is 18 years old I will still be checking in on him to check that he’s breathing.  He’ll forever be my little boy!

The most important thing to know about Havens is: he knows what he wants. And he is a very happy baby, as long as you give him EXACTLY what he wants. There is a long list of things he loves and a long list of things he hates.

Havens Loves:

  • Food! (this kid could eat all day)
  • Bath time with Mom
  • Being outside
  • Walks in his stroller
  • Tummy time
  • Diaper changes (We sometimes move his changing pad onto the couch because he loves hanging out on it so much!)
  • Sucking on his fingers
  • Being held out and high up so he can see the world.
  • Pool time
  • Dancing
  • Hanging out in the bathroom (he loves the bright lights!)
  • Dad singing to him

Things Havens Hates:

  • Being cradled (unless he is eating)
  • Being held chest to chest
  • Sitting down on someones lap
  • Sitting still
  • Rocking without being fed
  • Getting out of the bath
  • Getting dressed
  • Mom singing to him

And when Havens doesn’t like something he is sure to let you know. He can get very upset very fast. One second he is all smiles, and the second you sit down he screams at the top of his lungs.

When Havens turned one month he rolled over from tummy to back. At two months he began to give genuine smiles, and now at three months he is so much better at holding his head up. He is still a little wobbly but it seems like over night he got so much stronger.

Havens has also been on lots of adventures! He’s gone to California twice! Once for Tessa’s baby shower and again for Thanksgiving at Great Grandma YoYo’s house. He was a rockstar in the car! He went to his first pumpkin patch in October and loved to be outside. He even went trick or treating (we really just walked around the neighborhood) dressed as a dalmation while Justin was a fireman. He went with Justin and I to vote. And most recently, has gone to pick out a Christmas tree! He loves the tree and looking at all of the lights on it! I’m thankful he cant pull the ornaments off just yet!

My favorite part of every day is morning cuddles! Havens is definitely a morning baby. He wakes up and is always in the best mood! We take him out of his swaddle, give him a fresh diaper, and put him into bed with Justin and I. He is always so smiley and gives the best little giggles. It almost makes you forget about his screaming in the middle of the night. Havens is such a blessing. I love him so much and am so thankful for him and his sweet spirit! I cant wait to see how much he grows and changes in the next three months.
